FFA friending meme
May. 20th, 2013 05:27 pmHi gentlefailers,
By mildly popular request, here's a
fail_fandomanon friending meme! I'm cross-posting it to DW and LJ, and there's also an official Tumblr post here: http://failfandomanon.tumblr.com/post/50880814316/fail-fandomanon-friending-meme-you-asked-for-it
Answer only the ones you want to, and add anything else you think should be there. I just ran with the enthusiasm and didn't want to spend forever making up questions and miss the moment, so feel free to add anything else you think should be there/questions nobody's ever asked that you'd love to answer.
Friend away!

Date: 2013-05-30 03:22 pm (UTC)Current fandoms: Les Miserables. The Good Wife. ST:DS9. SGU. Rosemary Sutcliff.
Past fandoms: I still like these and am super-willing to talk about them, but just don't keep up as much. OUAT. (Watched first season, haven't watched much of second season.) Harry Potter. Star Trek:AOS.
Favorite FFA threads: The ones with all kinds of meta-analysis. The Les Mis threads, especially the filks! Also, that one fic-rec thread where I found the two other people (in the world?) who have read (and adored) Cordwainer Smith, and I'm secretly sort of hoping that maybe they're on this thread too :) Oh, also that thread about Bible fanwank -- I adored the idea of a nice fanwank fight about Jacob/Leah vs. Jacob/Rachel ships, etc.
Things you'd love to have more conversations about: Meta! Books! Music! (And Bible fanwank! And Cordwainer Smith!)
What your journal's like: Mostly lots of rambling on about books and music. Let's see.. lately I've posted on L'Engle, Phantom of the Opera recordings, marble runs, various Sutcliff books, and the book Admission by Jean Korelitz. Sometimes I post every day, and sometimes I go weeks without posting. Recently I've been trying to read more meaty books and do multiple posts about them; so far I've done Les Mis and the Aeneid, and I think I might do Moby-Dick next.
Friending dealbreakers: Too much demonization of any side of the political spectrum.
Some other things about you: I have a geeky husband and a small kid, whom I talk about infrequently. My job is in technical analysis. I sing in choir and do other music-ish things.

Although I don't have anything coherent to say, actually, except LOVE SO MUCH WHY DOESN'T EVERYONE ELSE IN THE WORLD READ THESE AND LOVE THEM, and also I need to read Baudelaire and maybe a couple thousand more things so I can actually get any of his allusions...
Hmm, want to do a reread? :)

Date: 2013-05-30 04:02 pm (UTC)Yeah, it's more squee than converse, I think.
I would love to do a reread, but my books are on the other side of the world from me until September. Autumn reread in time for Yuletide Rediscovery of Man?
