- Sherlock Holmes (fannish shame: I haven't read the ACD stories yet; I also need to catch up on Elementary)
- cinema in general. I love almost everything in the horror genre (cannibalserialslasher movies the exception), and also peplum and angsty coming-of-age movies and noir and movies where Bette Davis/Joan Crawford/Gloria Swanson/Olivia de Haviland are monstrous and dramatic. Oh, lots of things.
- The Police.
- Past fandoms: X-Men comics, The Dark Tower, Terminator, Battlestar Galactica, DC comics (I used to read Batman, and I like lots of Vertigo stuff like Sandman, The Books of Magic etc.)
- Favourite FFA threads: anon confessions/grumbles/etc., meta of any description, historical/linguistic/cultural stuff discussed in geeky levels of detail, anything that touches on Harry Potter, and the ones where potentially hurt feelings devolve into surreal exchanges with velociraptors
- Favourite FFA critter: the Kraken. But also Thor.
- Things you'd love to have more conversations about:
- the Vampire Chronicles and Mayfair Witches books.
- children's books in general (I've started collecting old Puffin paperbacks and it's introduced me to a lot of things I'd forgotten, or missed).
- TV shows that have finished airing, because I always get into things years after everyone else.
- I'd just love to do more readalongs/watchalongs generally, because I love canon meta and it seems to be dying out in fandom.
- What your journal's like (personal/fannish/picspams/etc): Usually 50/50 fannish/personal, but the personal's taken an upswing lately because for a couple of months I wasn't here much and tended to return occasionally with catchuppy personal teal deer. I'm working my way through a backlog of half-written ASOIAF and Iron Man posts.
- Friending dealbreakers: Please don't be a rabid Tory? I mean, you're probably not, but I thought I'd better mention it.
- Some other things about you: how you spend your days, secret supervillain objectives, etc.
- 30s, UK, living with partner, cat and more books than we have shelves for
- I'm a writer trying to accomplish a balance between journalism (sellable) and fiction (maybe sellable one day). /freelancer tears
- I'm kind of burnt out on social justice issues in fandom, mostly through grappling with the UK's recent welfare reforms. Occasionally I'll rant about that, but mostly I try to stay away from it for mental health purposes.
- Since writing as a day job has eroded my urge to write fanfic, I'm trying to get back into other creative things I used to do a lot, like photography, papercrafts, drawing and zines. I'd love to meet more zine-makers and I'm really intrigued by this new movement of fannish zines.
- I swear with a confidence and fluency that I would dearly love to extrapolate to other areas of my life. I try to do so less on my journal now days, but make no such promises for Twitter.
