Photography and gratitude memes

DW support advised that I switch on the beta create entry page and see if that sorts the cut business out. Thanks for your patience with my fuming and uncut posts meanwhile!
luredin pointed me to a great photography meme,
snapshot_bingo. The nice thing is you're not tied to posting a pic every day, and the prompts seem like they offer a lot of creative scope. In the last year I think 90% of pictures I've taken have been of the cat or stuff I want to sell online, but when I was younger and first had a digital camera I used to experiment constantly and I want to get that back. So. :)
I'm going to make a little card for my wallet with all these on, so I can keep them in mind and find some fills when I'm out somewhere.
Oh, and here's a nice meme from
semyaza: ask me for a letter, and then list five things beginning with that letter for which you're grateful.
semyaza gave me the letter B:
books: I find it calming to sit in our hall where half the bookcases in the flat live. It's a nice, narrow space lined with books down one side, and there is immense comfort in looking at each specific book I want to read and knowing they're waiting for me.
Borrowed Cat: We are so ridiculously lucky to have him around. He's a huge comfort when I'm sad and he's even polite about waking us up in the mornings - he just sits on our chests and purrs until we become conscious. This morning when he returned, R let him in and he squirmed as close to my face as possible, then patted my cheek with a forepaw while licking the tip of my nose. It's impossible not to love him when he says hello like that.
Bookcrossing: I go through phases of unenthusiasm but I try to stick at it because I like optimistic gestures. I'm really glad I got into it because I have a nice group of local friends who I wouldn't have met otherwise.
being mistaken for a teenager: The people who told me one day I'd be glad of looking younger than I am were absolutely right. Every time this happens it is ridiculously pleasing. I thought my days of youthfulness were over, but when I was out with Max a few weeks ago the bus driver asked if the two tickets I'd asked for were both for adults. Of course, it may be that he read her as younger than me, but since I was right in front of him I choose to assume otherwise. :P
buses: Our local public transport is so rubbish that when one hoves into view I always feel the most desperate relief and gratitude.
