The two-minute Thor post

cloudsinveniceIt's late and I'm tired, but I saw Thor 2: The Dark World today and wanted to post before midnight...
Stuff I liked:
- Almost everything, actually
- The feared Sif/Jane jealousy thing not materialising
- Fanservice actually being directed at my demographic for a change
- Frigga was AWESOME.
- Likewise, Frigga's funeral.
- THE PRODUCTION DESIGN OMG. Beautiful, original, and it'll wear well, I think.
- Thor.
- All the little twists and turns involving Loki.
- The fact that, whereas action movies generally like to destroy beautiful old buildings, this film also gave a nod to the hideousness of modern architecture by damaging the Gherkin. Score!
- The amount of humour and (despite a few awkward moments, like the restaurant) the way it was delivered. I loved Thor on the subway, and his politely hanging up Mjolnir when he arrives in Jane's flat.
- Stellan Skarsgaard. It is the mark of a good actor to be able to deliver a performance that sincere while trouserless.
Stuff I disliked:
- Killing off Frigga (though I must admit I wouldn't have cared had it been Odin, and Odin's death wouldn't have made Loki want to help Thor).
- Chris O'Dowd's appearance. I actually like him a lot, but through no fault of his own, he never registers for me as anything other than Another Chris O'Dowd Character. So that felt a bit random.
- Darcy in the restaurant: an adult acting like the cliche of an oblivious teenager. She got better as the film went on, though.
- Darcy's gormless intern (though he also improved).
- Very British Product Placement. We don't actually eat digestive biscuits for breakfast, but you'd think we do. :P Also, that Lucozade bottle appeared to be from the 70s.
