Well of course it's the best for jigsaws. We've always done them on the bare wood then covered the incomplete jigsaw with a piece of card and a tablecloth when dining :) Mum's original table was reversible, having an unvarnished underside for ironing on, through a blanket. That was the better side for doing jigsaws on.
